課程概述

This course is aimed to deliver enhanced knowledge and recent developments of the those areas of biology that integrate functions and structures in cells, tissues, and organisms. Students enrolled in this course will be familiarized with recently recognized biological processes related to cell and molecular biology, neurobiology, developmental biology, and physiology in various biological models. Each lecture will provide a timely compilation of articles that encompass the most up-to-date information specific to selected topics at the cellular and organismal level. This course also provides a framework to prepare students for careers in related research fields. The expertise and experience offered by participating lecturers will also be integrated into formal coursework and classroom discussions.

Course materials and suggested readings will be selected from the review articles published in such prestigious journals as Annual Reviews, Nature Reviews, Nature, Science, and Cell etc.

課程目標
論述細胞與個體生物學相關研究領域,如何利用各種生物模式解析主要生物課題,瞭解如何以不同的研究方法來剖析包括各個生物體在發育、演化、及環境適應、以至於 人類疾病中特有的生物反應及變化。同時以目前常見之各種主要的研究用生物模式,探究最新、最具迫切性的生物學相關議題,期望可以從而發掘更能有效增進人類福祉的科學新知。  
課程要求
基本背景要求:修過動物學或生物學等相關課程
成績評量:期中及期末測驗,課堂出席及參與討論之表現為依據。
需熟讀授課內容所取材的最新期刊論文及各研究主題的進展及挑戰,可更進一步熟悉現今各種研究細胞與個體生物學及生醫相關課題的最新方法及未來的研究趨勢 ,主動提問及積極參與討論。
